Is Coaching right for you?
Is Inner Compass coaching right for you?
It’s common that someone might be curious about the difference between coaching and therapy. While I will offer my honest opinion during a consultation what I think is best of you, I will share some differences between the two. Mental health therapy is considered health care; coaching is guidance. Most therapists work on the model of doctors with a diagnosis of a mental health disorder and treatment to follow. Coaching through Inner Compass is a non-pathologizing perspective to better understand who you are. In some therapy, there can be more rigidity around the relationship between the client and therapist with a therapist not sharing information about themselves. In coaching, while dignity and professionalism will always exist, a relaxed equal partnership will be utilize in working towards your goals.
Coaching can be an option for people experiencing the following:
Starting or ending a relationship
Switching to a new job or career
Transitioning from high school to college, college to career, career to retirement
Inner conflict around a decision that needs to be made
A need to have less stress
Noticing an increase in difficult moods, behaviors, and negative thoughts
A feeling that life could feel better
Conflict in a relationship
No “problem” or “circumstance” is required in order to find value in learning about yourself.
